Team Colorado hosted another successful race this summer. The 2018 Wild Water Open Canoe Downriver National Championships had a reasonable turnout with junior athletes from Colorado, Maine, and Spain competing together. I am proud to present information about the first WWOCD National Championship hosted in Colorado since 2010. Practice for the event is available all the way up until the start of racing on Saturday the fourteenth. Everyday there will be a competitor meeting, boat control, a five- mile race from the Salida boat ramp through bear creek rapid, and a long race from the Salida boat ramp to the Rincon takeout.                   In the summer of 2017, June 28 to July 2, Nate Lord took a team of 6 to Old Town, ME for the Penobscot River Whitewater Nationals. That group was comprised of Nate, Quintus Drennan, and Preston Hopkins as coaches and Olivia Spencer, Amanda Creek, and Aerin Creek as junior competitors.
